Do you have the desire to start something new? Smallbore Rifle shooting is perfect for everyone. Juniors seek collegiate scholarships, while others desire a relaxing afternoon in a sport that will last a lifetime. Join us for our lessons to learn the fundamentals of competitive shooting.
Below are the introductory lesson slides for your review. Please take a moment to review them after completing your registration. All new athletes will receive a comprehensive safety briefing & formal instructions before any live shooting begins. If this is your first time visiting our range, please download, complete, and bring a signed copy of the Range Rules & Waiver with you on the day of your lesson.
In order to assist you in your first visit, here is a list of items to bring with you. If you are unsure of something or don’t have the right equipment, please contact us in advance to secure loaner equipment.
Packing List:
Ammunition: Ammunition is not provided, but may be available for purchase on-site. All Rifles must use 22 Caliber Long Rifle (22LR), 40-grain Standard Velocity (~1070fps). Please no copper-plated or bulk pack ammunition. Recommended ammunition is: CCi Standard Velocity, Aguila Target, Federal Match, SK, Lapua, Eley, Etc.
Rifles: Match Grade, target rifles are provided at no cost. Athletes are allowed to bring their own rifles; however, the rifle must be chambered in 22 Long Rifle (22LR) only. For best results, bolt action rifles are recommended but semi-auto rifles are permitted. If you are unsure about your rifle bring it with you, and a determination can be made on sight. Shooters are expected to comply with all federal, state, and local laws.
Come back & do it again! Few marksmen advance past sharpshooter on their first time out. We would be honored to have you return with the intent to advance from marksmen to sharpshooter, to High Master in all three shooting positions, prone, kneeling & standing. Other events include our monthly Smallbore Events, held every 2nd Saturday, and our High Power Rifle events, held every 4th Saturday.
STMTC hosts regular open training days where you can continue to develop your skills. There is no end to our training program; athletes typically move on to competing in local, state, regional, & the National Championships. Their desire? To achieve the prestigious Excellence-In-Competition Award presented by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), become the next National Champion, earn NCAA Collegiate scholarships, and some attend tryouts for the world championships or Olympic Games.

Whether you are picking up a rifle for the very first time or looking to refine your technique, my goal is to make your journey into marksmanship both rewarding and accessible. I believe that every athlete should start with a solid foundation. I am here to ensure yours is built with confidence.
I’ve had the privilege of competing on the national stage—from the precision of Olympic 50-meter targets to the challenge of 1,000-yard competitions. I bring the lessons I learned at those elite levels back to you, simplifying complex techniques into manageable, easy-to-understand steps.
Teaching is my passion. I began my coaching journey in 2014 working with the Air Force Wounded Warriors (AFW2), an experience that taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and clear communication. Since becoming an NRA Certified Instructor in 2017, I have dedicated myself to helping new athletes discover the same joy and discipline that this sport has given me.
In these introductory courses, we focus on Smallbore because it is the ultimate teacher. It is challenging, rewarding, and demands the fundamental skills that will serve you in any shooting discipline you choose to pursue later. I am here to guide you through those first shots and help you achieve a level of skill you might not have thought possible.
