About: High Power Rifle

Clean High Power Rifle Target 200 Yard San Antonio Texas

High Power Competitions

High Power Rifle competition is sometimes called Cross The Course (XTC) or Over The Course (OTC). The course of fire is 80 shots for record distributed over 4 stages; 200 yards standing, 200 yards sitting or kneeling, 300 yards rapid-fire prone, and 500 to 600 yards slow-fire prone. This event is perfect for anyone wishing to train for a chance to earn points towards the coveted Distinguished Rifleman Badge.

Intent and Spirit

The Intent and Spirit of High Power Shooting is to utilize "As-Issued military rifles that were or could have been carried by military personnel in combat operations." These matches honor “those who served” and carried these rifles while on military duty.  These matches also strive to preserve the traditions of military marksmanship.  The intent and spirit of CMP As-Issued Military Rifle Match rules is to provide modern target rifle competitions for competitors who use affordable, readily available, as-issued military rifles.

Location

This competition is held on the Central Texas Silhouette Association (CTSA) Range, within the Dietz Shooting Complex, on TX46, west of New Braunfels, Texas.

Course-of-Fire

We at the South Texas Marksmanship Training Center use the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) approved courses of fire. These events are training for the prestigious Distinguished Badge Program and National Championships. We may change the matches to focus on particular stages or distance, as several shooters compete in Regional or National Events and would like to get extra practice. This will be noted prior to competition. The event dates are set, the course may change.
