Six shooters showed up for the 900 match, including two new competitors, Joe Martinez and John Riggs. Only four fired for score (all using .22s): Rene Gonzalez shot a 734-2x, Frank Dillingham a 733-2x, George Becquet a 728-8x, and Joe Martinez, a 662-3x. Jim Ford called the match. Next match is on Saturday, August 16, and by the way, the match is now scheduled for 9am. Like I said, it’s gonna get hot!

Three top guns showed up for the 900-Match at Blackhawk Range. During the warm-up, Ken Slade’s pistol broke and no amount of 1st echelon maintenance or severe cursing on his part could bring it into firing order, so he retired from the field. George Becquet brought out a new 22 match pistol that was plagued by digestion problems. Our suggestion that he change its diet from rich Wolf target ammo to plain fare Federal Champion bulk ammo allowed him to score a respectable 783-8X. Rene Gonzalez, our wheel-gun champion, pulled out a Smith and Wesson .38 from the back of his gun vault to see if it still remembered his touch. It did to the tune of 755-9X. (Rene also brought out a S&W chambered in .45 rim. He hit a fist size rock with it at 100-yards. What a show off!) Come one; come all to the next match on May 17 at 11:00.

Seven competitors attended the August 900 point pistol match. Five shot .22 Rim fire and two shot .45s. We were pleased to see James Dechert, Tim Busse, and Aubrey Mason from Camp Bullis join us for the first time this year. The scores for .22 were: (1) Tim Busse 799-14X, (2) Rene Gonzalez 769-8X, (3) Frank Dillingham 751-3X, (4) David Hoover 703-6X, and Aubrey Mason 698-4X. James Dechert claimed first place in the .45 category with 789-10X. George Becquet took second but was unable to fire the final 200 rapid-fire portion of the match. The next match is scheduled for Sept. 20th. Try to be there not later than 8:45 for target and equipment setup.
